The Choral Requiem for Dr. Gerre Hancock took place on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 11:00 AM. The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys, directed by John Scott, sang the service which included Dr. Hancock's arrangement of Deep River. A web cast of the service may be found on the church's web site, www.saintthomaschurch.org.
Many commented on the sight of 108 alumni solemnly processing to their reserved pews just prior to the service. They remained standing until all were in place and seated in perfect unity. The blue and yellow school tie was seen on several alumni. Such a turnout is a profound statement of the deep respect and abiding love choristers have for their choir master and the Choir School experience.
The Choir School hosted a reception at the school for alumni and their families to gather and share memories of Dr. Hancock. Photos from the archives were on display and those attending recorded possible dates and persons pictured.
Remembrances of Dr. Hancock were shared at the reception. A copy will be sent to the family and another reserved in the Choir School archives.
